Unni Askeland (b. 1962, Bergen) is a leading figure in Norwegian contemporary art, celebrated for her provocative style that fuses pop-art, Neo-Expressionism, and art-historical parody. A graduate of the National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, she gained notoriety with her Munch Adoptions series and later works like Big Blonde and Desire and Destruction, where she reimagines cultural icons through bold color and graphic intensity. Exhibited internationally and represented in major collections, Askeland continues to challenge conventions with her fearless, unapologetic approach to painting.
